Grading and Feedback
AI tools are emerging that can automate parts of the grading and feedback process to make it more efficient. AI can instantly score multiple choice, fill-in-the-blank, and other objective assignment types, freeing up teacher time. For open-ended writing, AI can flag grammar errors, analyze text coherence, and detect plagiarism. While not capable of holistic grading, these AI capabilities allow teachers to focus feedback on higher-order concerns like style, reasoning, and content. Teachers should still provide personalized, qualitative feedback while leaving routine error checks to AI. Some AI tools even generate automatic feedback comments using rubrics and data analytics. Used thoughtfully, such AI grading and feedback assistance can help teachers be more strategic, targeted, and timely with their feedback while supporting student growth.
